Results

Twenty medication resistant patients referred for electroconvulsive therapy received magnetic seizure therapy under controlled conditions. Sixty percent of patients experienced a 50% drop in depression ratings and 35% had a complete remission. The efficacy of MST was equivalent to that reported in the literature for ECT. Moreover, there were fewer cognitive side effects with MST.
