Results
Thirty-seven patients were enrolled in the trial. They were randomly assigned to receive 195 mg of methylene blue (active drug) or 5 mg of methylene blue (control condition), given adjunctively to lamotrigine. After receiving either active or control dose for 12 weeks, patients were crossed over to the alternate condition. Active treatment was associated with significant improvement on depression and anxiety ratings but not on ratings of mania or verbal memory performance.
