Results

One hundred twenty one patients with treatment resistant schizophrenia were given ondansetron or placebo adjunctively to haloperidol (4-20 mg/day). Ondansetron treatment was associated with significant improvement in PANSS total, negative symptoms and general symptoms. Ondansetron-treated patients also had fewer extrapyramidal side effects.
