BPRS, PANSS, BDI, S-COS, UCLA Social Attainment Survey, Social Adjustment Scale, Self Report Version, Quality of Life Scale, DSM-IV, KSADS, WAIS-III, WISC-IV, WMS-III, D-KEFS

Results

80 individuals with schizophrenia (within 5 years of onset) were randomized to a computerized cognitive training program or computer games for 5 hrs./wk. (1 hr./day for 5 days) for 8 weeks. Those using cognitive training had a significant improvement in global cognition, verbal learning and memory, and problem solving compared to those playing computer games. Studies are underway to ascertain whether the improvements are maintained for 6 months.
