Outcome Measurements

PANSS, Simpson-Angus, CPT, the Digits Forward and Backward, the Visuospatial Memory Task, and the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, MNWS, QSU-Brief, mCEO, SANS, DAI

Results

Randomized 120 patients to varenicline, a nicotinic receptor agonist, or placebo for 8 weeks in double-blind trial. No overall benefit for cognitive function, but for patients on second-generation antipsychotics there was improvement in attention. Detailed analysis underway.
