Results
120 outpatients with bipolar depression were randomized to receive either aspirin (160 mg/day) + minocycline (200 mg/day), aspirin + placebo, minocycline + placebo, or placebo + placebo. A blind interim analysis led to dropping the aspirin + placebo, and minocycline + placebo groups in order to boost enrollment in the remaining two groups. There was no significant benefit from the addition of minocycline to aspirin compared to placebo to aspirin.
